I make a lot of smoothies. My current blender started smoking and then stopped working during a recent smoothie session (I guess too much ice and frozen fruit; not enough liquid). The motor on it was listed at 500 watts. When I buy a new blender I want as powerful a motor as possible so this doesn't happen again however when I look at blender descriptions, some list the power of the motor in watts, some in horsepower and some don't give any number specifications at all. Can somebody explain and give a model suggestion.

In electric motors 1hp is equal to 746Watts, so given that its more then 1hp as claimed by KA, its probably a 750+Watt motor.

I know this is 2 months late and you probably already purchased a blender, but hope its good FYI to others in the search...
