I make alot of smoothies, no ice, only fruit and fruit juice. I take very good care of my blender. I have had it for over 2 yrs. The plastic little prings that stick up broke off. Little by little they each fell off. I called for the part and they told me I had to send it in and it would cost me $20, to do that, then they would look at it and that would cost me $15 for them to tell me what is wrong with it and then they will tell me how much the part is! All of that I could buy a new blender. WHy is this and is there anywhere I can buy the part I want? The closest repair man is 2 hrs away.

Sorry to hear about your Blender.

Did you call the authorized service center to see if it is possible to purchase the part from them? They may even ship it to you.

I bought a KitchenAid cobalt blue blender 2 years ago to match my other KitchenAid small appliances, after searching everywhere for it. While making a smoothie the rubber part on top of the power unit disintegrated. I hardly use my blender and I am shocked that it broke. After reading the forums, I would like help to purchase the part from a vendor other than KitchenAid, since they make faulty parts. Who knows where to buy the rubber part? Please help!

Very dissatisfied customer.

PS: I am rethinking about buying a KitchenAid refrigerator since they cannot recall or fix their faulty small appliance!

Please understand that the coupling is a sacrificial part. It is intended to fail if it is suddenly put under excessive strain. This protects the motor and the user. Better that a $6 part should fail than the much more costly motor.

Making smoothie certainly does not sound like excessive strain I will certainly say that.

While I understand the engineering concept of a sacrificial part, I believe the piece was COMPLETELY inadequate. This isn't a sacrificial part, like the nylon gears in a stand mixer, this is just plain BAD ENGINEERING or it is a rip off of customers. The part is made of a SOFT rubber compound that would bend even with "finger pressure"! It was NOT made with what I would call Kitchen aid quality! IF the part is a "sacrificial part" why was it replaced with METAL? That would indicate to me that KA knows it has a design defect!

KA advertised that it could CRUSH ICE, but it can't even liquify soft fruit without disintegrating

I have a KA stand mixer, immersion blender, cutlery set as well as tons of KA accessories. I have never been so disappointed with such SHODDY quality as the blenders of that series.
